TALLER ABIERTO Procesos Composicionales®, founded in 2017 in Mexico City, extends my artistic practice through music performance research focused on improvisation. This pedagogical model emphasizes aural entities and language, fostering an open-ended compositional process through exploration, sound as language, expressive communication, interconnectedness, sensory engagement, improvisatory nature, Self-discovery, collaborative learning, highlighting the transformative power of sound in both performance and education. It transforms the traditional student-teacher dynamic into a collaborative co-creatorship, with the teacher as a facilitator and the student as a participant. A key focus of this research-in-performance is the interplay of body and mind as language beyond thought, exploring widely diverse perspectives on sensory aural performance.
TALLER ABIERTO serves as a distinctive space for exploring experimental experiences related to perception and sensory cognition. It operates through a research-rehearsal framework, often culminating in the creation and performance of entirely new works. This process is an introspective journey that fosters self-awareness, body-mind connection, and deep creative engagement with instrumental play. The environment is holistic and transdisciplinary, integrating elements of mindfulness, philosophy, science, history, spirituality, mathematics, mysticism, anthropology, language, academia, randomness, and critical thinking. These diverse sources contribute to a continuous cycle of reinvention, change, and transformation.
The program originates from my professional creative practice and the requests of students and artists in Mexico City, functioning as a musical atelier. It has proven to be highly effective and fulfilling, engaging a diverse range of individuals from various backgrounds and disciplines, both artists and non-artists alike. This open field approach fosters a collaborative environment where creativity thrives across all participants.
