HÁBITAT
2018-2022

TALLER ABIERTO [procesos composicionales]
"La Música Antes de la Música: Hacia un Nuevo Onticismo Musical"

The compositional process with Diego Villaseñor echoic.space/  started in 2018. The point of departure began based on a philosophical conception Diego´s been pursuing and developing which found a fertile environment to be cultivated through TALLER ABIERTO [procesos composicionales] crystalizing into what it became to be the work composition HÁBITAT. The project had many creative swirls until the time of its performance premiere in 2022, in Mexico City.
In the words of Diego "HÁBITAT is a collaborative space for the development of an open and shareable musical-eidetic universe inspired on the study and operation of the relationships found in natural processes. The aim is to develop musics that coevolve, relate, compose and cooperate with each other in the same way as the different elements of nature do amongst themselves (from the subatomic to the cosmic scales). As a methodology it takes the structures and elements of natural phenomena to produce instances (or species) of their phenomenological expressions in sound. Afterwards these sound-species can be understood as belonging to the evolutionary time of the Habitat, and thus are subject to the same processes inherent to the phenomena that produced them: recursivity and fractality, evolution via self-differentiation and adaptation, changes in scale and perspective, and all sorts of compositions, recompositions and decompositions of their matters. As such Habitat is a means of attending and relating to nature as process and as a complex web of relationships, and a way of understanding and experimenting music, ideas and other so called “human” activities and characteristics as integrated to the ecosystem and as part of the same flows of energy and matter as the rest of the environment".

From HÁBITAT to HACIA UN NUEVO UNIVERSO

RETORNANDO A CASA
aka HACIA UN NUEVO UNIVERSO
2023-2025

The closing moment in the work HÁBITAT was a 7 minutes section called Hacia Un Nuevo Universo. The materialities comprised in this last section led us to a complete new vision in the compositional process we´ve been developing for several years, evolving into a new work-process project named RETORNANDO A CASA (COMING HOME), a poetical print inspired and honoring science fiction wizard Ursula L. Guin.
Premier performance 2024 Mexico City
“Hacia un Nuevo Universo" unfolds as a quantum transit to a fictional universe in a sound environment where strange material species of resonant plasma masses and formative bursts of convoluting energy emerge. The piece is a fractal spiral whose internal harmonic constellations are composed of scales from "exotic" tuning systems, such as slendro or pelog from Javanese music, and dizzying sequencing organizations like Fibonacci, manipulated in their flow like Lorentz electromagnetic fields, re-synthesized in processes of granulation, enveloping, random rhythms, contractions and expansions of durational space, and the capturing of parameterized signals in micro-temporalities; where everything is created and constructed virtually in a space of internal relationships of virtual interfaces, creating complex universes from amplified string sources and percussive elements. The work is presented in quadraphonic or octophonic systems.

“Hacia un Nuevo Universo" proposes a random, chaotic, extravagant psychoacoustic acousmatic behavior, generating a continuous cognitive dissociation in listening and sensorial awareness, establishing a meditative continuum of transitive magical consciousness. The work continues the trajectory traced in HABITAT, a piece in three movements, created in TALLER ABIERTO [procesos composicionales] from 2018 to 2022; expanding towards unimaginable worlds where only the human soul can access in its journey after earthly life. It is a profound transcendental conversation between the subconscious and the infinite reality of an invisible creative intelligence.

The work breathes and evolves, reaching toward new, divergent realms of sensory perception, ever birthing unforeseen sources of sonic essence and psychoacoustic energy. It grows like an artist sculpting an ethereal fluid, unknown to the earth, each fleeting moment transforming seamlessly from solid to liquid, airy to plasmatic—an endless dance of metamorphosis.
