OXYOQUET el volcán silencioso 2012-2015
Piezas en Cadencia I-XII

This is Primitive music. A percussive ethnicism inspired by Tzotzil exuberant nature reservoirs and its indigenous onticism. It is a research into drumming pre-history and its evolving languages, reconsidering some fundamentals and extrapolating far out from its cultural archetype bundaries.
Open Work Composed Improvisation for Extended/Prepared Drum set, real time electronics, soundscape and  video art
A naturalistic piece for self-reflection on Human Specie and Nature species on Earth

The musical score is in Nature. Every leaf, branch, root, stone, sand...environment and temperature... surface, dryness, muddiness and rain ... light and shades diffusion... generates psychoacoustic states within a dynamic totality. A continuum of densities perception. An event within the immensity of Time.
Inspired and created in La Reserva Huitepec, Altos de Chiapas, México. The work is structured in 12 cadences evolving within a composed soundscape made with sonic elements from the Huitepec Reservoir. Born from an environmentalist paradox, these piezas en cadencia reflect on a naturalistic impulse that pray for preservation within change, questioning the deterioration and devastation of natural reservoirs affecting negatively the basic elemental conditions for life, thus inquire into the dynamic cycle within birth and death as a continuum cadence in the species evolution. The piece is inspired by and dedicated to this Tzotzil sacred mountain, to the surrealism involved in its magical tales and to the Tzotzil people cosmogonic beliefs around it. The compositional elements and audiovisual materials have derived from personal experiences through deep listening and acute contemplative observation practices in the geographical and cultural area, which is a mixture of an unmatched natural beauty, simplicity, contradiction and primitiveness.

Open Composed Improvisation: an integer equation parametrizing sound organization as composed improvisation.
Open: free evolving nature; composed: complexity within nature phenomenology; improvisation: ongoing extempore nature activity.

The entire work is composed over three score layers: the visual score,  the soundscape score and the percussion cadences. The visual score is a moving compound of light, shapes and contour images created on a video platform; containing a complex graphical vocabulary which is parametrized into color, density and dynamic percussive activity ad lib. This visual score is projected simultaneously on live performance as a film concert, and it is framing interpreted.
