Innovative interdisciplinary artist based in Mexico City, specializing in creating rhythmatologic experiences that foster compositional processes and living evolving personal growth.  As a life long percussivist practitioner and creative researcher performer, my interest is to guide individuals in awakening to new states of thought and sensory perception through percussive exploration and rhythm.

My compositional and performative work concentrates on the realization of projects aiming transformative experiences.

My work draws from a multitude of lived experiences and ongoing research practices spanning over 40 years of drumming. It aims to transcend contemporary materialism and societal trends, cultivating innovative poetic rhythmic languages that elevate planetary vibration, creation and Self expression.

As a natural-born educator and lifelong autodidact, I continuously expand beyond conventional boundaries, embodying the profound changes of our present world. With formal training in jazz, contemporary orchestral percussion, and root-origin drumming traditions, coupled with a fervent exploration of improvisation and experimental artistic practices, I have developed a rich multidimensional palette of languages, techniques, and compositional frameworks.

My current focus examines the reciprocal relationships between the percussive body and its environment, studying the neuroscience of percussiveness and the qualities within creative compositional play and their evolution in individual and collective identity development. Through this multiversal approach, rooted in diverse experiences and continuous searches, I aim to cultivate new paradigms of percussive thought and higher states of planetary expression.

Throughout my career, I have had unique professional opportunities performing and collaborating with highly esteemed artists. My involvement in the arts extends to active collaborations, art and performance residencies, private teaching, workshops, composing, creating ensemble projects and regular appearances at contemporary music festivals and concert series. 

I established APIL-PUBS in Mexico City as an independent publishing house dedicated to disseminating my scholarly works. This initiative has culminated in the publication of 13 titles, which collectively encapsulate three decades of developed methodologies and research in my specialization field of drumming.

My  work-compositions are based on hybrid language and vocabularies integrating open scores involving investigative and structural improvisation, graphs, experimental approaches to materials, mixed traditional and contemporary notation, sound poetry, and  constellation systems. 

My current ongoing projects in Mexico City are TALLER ABIERTO, Coming Home, Pidgins, and my solo percussive immersive works. I am on recording labels Lexical Records, Albany Records, Amirani Records, Relative Pitch, Edgetone Records, MUSLAB & Cero Records: AFTER, Non Jazz Records.
