Mexican artist, percussionist, composer, performer and researcher born in San Luis Potosí – develops a singular musical philosophy by integrating diverse sonic sources and instrumental practices. His central research explores gestural sense as percussive poetics: a concept he cultivates as an ongoing, compositional process.
His works for percussion articulate rhythm as embodied acoustic archeology – excavating the foundations of drumming to forge new paradigms of cognitive and kinetic experience. His naturally eclectic capacity to hybridize elements from all traditions and discipline practices, enables him to synthesize novel material organizations and unifying structures for innovative creative works.
Over a 35-year career, he has collaborated across music, dance, theater, poetry, mixed media, improvisation, and experimental performance, with a wide range of renowned international artists and projects. He also delivers talks, lectures, and workshops at universities, festivals, art centers, and residencies.
For the past 25 years, he has founded multiple open pedagogy platforms and practice-as-research programs. He has authored 13 specialized books on contemporary drumming and is currently completing an extensive essay on the phenomenological anthropology of percussiveness in rhythm.
He´s now creating and producing "Matrices Constelares" – a multidisciplinary dodecalogue of 12 works, presenting one new piece each month throughout 2026 in Mexico City.
